If Wyoming is to consider Medical or Recreational marijuana, we must
look at failures in other states and avoid them.

Rule Of Law

Having federal laws ignored in certain states is a big deal for me. Congress needs to act on the marijuana issue. If not, the federal law needs to be enforced equally in every state.

Medical Marijuana

The prospects look promising that some components within marijuana will have medicinal benefits, but it should be the FDA and not the state legislature that decides whether a product is safe to be used as a medicine. Despite the rhetoric, this is a complex issue that should be addressed very carefully.

The Marijuana Industry

I have as many if not more concerns with the emerging marijuana industry as I have with the marijuana itself. The types of products being created including those with super high THC levels, edibles packaged to look like regular food items, the sort of advertising the industry uses and many other topics concern me.

Tax Revenue And Costs

I want to see both sides of the ledger. What are the costs? Traffic crashes, medical emergencies, use by pregnant women, etc. all carry social costs. How do they compare with the revenue?

Federalism

Federalism allows each state to experiment with approaches to complex issues. As Colorado and other states gain experience with recreational and medical marijuana we will learn more and then decide.
